Sarcocaulon vanderetiae Also called Bushman's Candle, this South African native is closely related to the common Geranium and Pelargonium, but is adapted to desert conditions. Many people consider it to be a species of Monsonia. It produces fat stems that often grow horizontally a few inches above the ground. The leaves are small and fern-like. The petioles (leaf stalks) of each leaf turn into spines when the leaf dies. Flowers are an attractive white to light pink color. This plant commonly drops its leaves when stressed then regrows them when conditions are good.
You will receive a plant shown in the last image or one similar. Plants shown in a 3.5" pot.
Important Shipping Information
- PLANTS ARE SHIPPED BARE ROOT If you want me to send them in pots send me a message to discuss. Extra charges due to increased shipping costs will apply.
- Immediate Payment (eBay only) Sorry! I can no longer offer a delayed purchase option as the multichannel inventory management system I have started using requires this setting.
- No Delayed Shipping (eBay only) Once you pay I have to (and WILL) ship within 3 business days or eBay will lower my seller rating. I used to have a way to delay shipping but can no longer do this for the same reason as #2 above. Feel free to message me before buying to see if we can figure something out here, no promises though.
- Winter Shipping If you live in a cold climate consider including a 96 hour heat pack in your order during the cold months. I have them as a listing. Just add it to your order. If you don’t see them just message me.
