Orostachys japonica Family: Crassulaceae. An unusual and attractive Sempervivum relative. Has slender, dagger-like leaves. Goes through a yearly phase of having very short leaves in the center of the rosette. Almost looks like a sunflower in this growth stage. Leaves are green in lower light and blush cherry red in high light. Grows an 8" inflorescence with hundreds of small, white flowers. Easy to grow, just avoid overwatering. Protect from hot afternoon sun. Said to be quite cold hardy. We can't confirm hardiness since our climate doesn't freeze
