Monadenium coccineum Family: Euphorbiaceae. An unusual species very closely related to Euphorbia. The stems are long and narrow often bending at a certain point. It produces red tinged leaves that are persistent during the growing season in good conditions. In the winter or if allowed to go too dry the leaves will fall off, but regrow when conditions are good again. The flowers are bright red. Takes normal succulent care (lots of light, keep on dry side). Drops its leaves in the winter and should be kept drier at that time. Does best if kept above 50 degrees but isn't absolutely required. Protect from frost.
