Melocactus caesius Family: Cactaceae. Sometimes considered a variety of M. curvispinus. This is a nice cephallium forming cactus with distinctive ribs. When young (as they are now) they seem like a regular green cactus but once it gets big enough the main plant stops growing but produces a large hairy inflorescence that continues to grow for the rest of the life of the plant. Eventually the inflorescence can be taller than the plant itself. This is more tropical than most cacti so it doesn't like cold weather and it also doesn't like to fully dry out. Occasionally drying out is fine but in general water when the soil is slightly moist. Needs good light. Protect from frost.
You will receive a plant shown in the last image or one similar. Plants shown in a 4" pot.
Important Shipping Information
- PLANTS ARE SHIPPED BARE ROOT If you want me to send them in pots send me a message to discuss. Extra charges due to increased shipping costs will apply.
- Immediate Payment (eBay only) Sorry! I can no longer offer a delayed purchase option as the multichannel inventory management system I have started using requires this setting.
- No Delayed Shipping (eBay only) Once you pay I have to (and WILL) ship within 3 business days or eBay will lower my seller rating. I used to have a way to delay shipping but can no longer do this for the same reason as #2 above. Feel free to message me before buying to see if we can figure something out here, no promises though.
- Winter Shipping If you live in a cold climate consider including a 96 hour heat pack in your order during the cold months. I have them as a listing. Just add it to your order. If you don’t see them just message me.
