Echinocereus rigidissimus var. rubrispinus Family: Cactaceae. Also called E. pectinatus var. rubrispinus. A real "must have" for every cactus collection! The plant has beautiful red spines that cover the stem. It is very common for the spines to be white when young, but as the plant matures it will be consistently pink to red, so don't worry if yours has white spines when you receive it. The plant is columnar but stays fairly short, usually only a foot or so tall. Normally it will not make offsets. While attractive year-round, when it is in flower it can't be beat! Requires general cactus care. Some people say it is especially sensitive to overwatering, though I haven't had any real issues with this. Should be able to tolerate light frost.
Please note: There may be some mealybug residue on these plants. There was an infestation over a year ago that has long since been eradicated but it is very difficult to clear off the residue without breaking the spines. Message me if you have questions.
You will receive the plant shown in the first two images. Plant shown in a 6" pot. Last image shows a mature plant in flower.
Important Shipping Information
- PLANTS ARE SHIPPED BARE ROOT If you want me to send them in pots send me a message to discuss. Extra charges due to increased shipping costs will apply.
- Immediate Payment (eBay only) Sorry! I can no longer offer a delayed purchase option as the multichannel inventory management system I have started using requires this setting.
- No Delayed Shipping (eBay only) Once you pay I have to (and WILL) ship within 3 business days or eBay will lower my seller rating. I used to have a way to delay shipping but can no longer do this for the same reason as #2 above. Feel free to message me before buying to see if we can figure something out here, no promises though.
- Winter Shipping If you live in a cold climate consider including a 96 hour heat pack in your order during the cold months. I have them as a listing. Just add it to your order. If you don’t see them just message me.
Thank you!
