Cyphostemma cirrhosum Family: Vitaceae. This grape relative is an interesting caudiciform with thick green leaves and vines. The caudex itself is extemely attractive, especially once it starts gaining some size. It is fat with peeling white to brownish skin or bark. The plant grows as a vine and the caudex will get several inches thick in time. A mature plant can be raised to show off the woody roots too. Easy to grow. Likes a fair amount of water during the summer (try not to let the pot dry out, but don't keep it wet either as it is a succulent). In the winter it will drop its leaves and become dormant. Keep it pretty dry until it starts growning again. Protect from frost.
