Conophytum triebneri A cute brown Conophytum species. Like most plants in this group it produces leaves in pairs, usually one pair per year, although they are so fused together they look like a single leaf. Will form offsets in time forming nice clumps. Easy to grow as long as you don't overwater it. Protect from frost and hot afternoon sun.
Conophytum is a winter growing plant. They are active from early fall until late spring or early summer. They then go dormant during the summer. Water regularly (for a succulent) during the growing season then stop watering in the summer (maybe a little water once a month). You know the plants are dormant when the leaves dry up (looks dead but isn't). These dry leaves form a cover over next year's growth. When ready to grow the new leaves will burst through the old leaves.
