Avonia quinaria ssp. quinaria Family: Portulacaceae. An unusual and attractive miniature caudiciform from South Africa. The base of the plant is light brown with peeling bark. On top are numerous silver blue to green stems with scale like leaves. At the ends of the stock are pink flowers that can be bigger than the young plants themselves! These flowers open in the late afternoon or evening. In time the plant can reach 2-3" in diameter (very old plants can be even bigger). Easy to grow. Give normal succulent care. It is rot prone if kept too wet, especially during the heat of summer. Is more shade tolerant than most succulents (though it still needs good light).
You will receive a plant shown in the last image or one similar. They are shown in 2" pots. These are very small plants. See image with a dime for scale.
Important Shipping Information
- PLANTS ARE SHIPPED BARE ROOT If you want me to send them in pots send me a message to discuss. Extra charges due to increased shipping costs will apply.
- Immediate Payment (eBay only) Sorry! I can no longer offer a delayed purchase option as the multichannel inventory management system I have started using requires this setting.
- No Delayed Shipping (eBay only) Once you pay I have to (and WILL) ship within 3 business days or eBay will lower my seller rating. I used to have a way to delay shipping but can no longer do this for the same reason as #2 above. Feel free to message me before buying to see if we can figure something out here, no promises though.
- Winter Shipping If you live in a cold climate consider including a 96 hour heat pack in your order during the cold months. I have them as a listing. Just add it to your order. If you don’t see them just message me.
