Stephania venosa Family: Menispermaceae. A native of Southeast Asia. This is a wonderful caudciform vine that is rarely seen in cultivation. The caudex is rounded and in nature grows below ground but is raised in cultivation. The vines grow several feet long during the summer but will die back to the caudex in the winter. The leaves are peltate, meaning the leaf stalk attaches in the middle of the leaf instead of at the base. This gives a unique look to them. The leaves are tiny when it first starts growing but get bigger over time. When it goes dormant keep dry over the winter then water again when it warms up in the spring. Should be able to take full sun, but watch for sunburn until it is acclimated to your situation. During the growing season water regularly. Should be kept above 50F.
I also sell the similar S. suberosa. The most obvious difference between the two is S. suberosa has green leaves and new growth while S. venosa has brown new growth and dark greenish brown mature leaves.
You will receive the plant shown in the images. It is shown in a 6.5" diameter pot and is approximately 6" diameter.
Important Shipping Information
- PLANTS ARE SHIPPED BARE ROOT If you want me to send them in pots send me a message to discuss. Extra charges due to increased shipping costs will apply.
- Immediate Payment (eBay only) Sorry! I can no longer offer a delayed purchase option as the multichannel inventory management system I have started using requires this setting.
- No Delayed Shipping (eBay only) Once you pay I have to (and WILL) ship within 3 business days or eBay will lower my seller rating. I used to have a way to delay shipping but can no longer do this for the same reason as #2 above. Feel free to message me before buying to see if we can figure something out here, no promises though.
- Winter Shipping If you live in a cold climate consider including a 96 hour heat pack in your order during the cold months. I have them as a listing. Just add it to your order. If you don’t see them just message me.
Thank you!
