Phyllanthus mirabilis Family: Euphorbiaceae. A native of Thailand. This is a big specimen of this wonderful woody caudciform related to Euphorbia. The caudex is woody and irregularly shaped. Often the caudex is biggest below the soil. It produces long compound leaves with hairs. The new growth is a beautiful red color when young but matures to green when fully expanded. The caudex will continue to enlarge and it the long stem on this specimen should continue to get even longer. The flowers are tiny and, unusually, produces on the leaves (Phyllanthus means "leaf-flower"). When it goes dormant keep dry over the winter then water again when it warms up in the spring. Should be able to take full sun, but watch for sunburn until it is acclimated to your situation. During the growing season water regularly. Protect plant from temperatures below 50F.
Please note: I imported these plants a few months ago from Thailand. They arrive without roots and slowly make a new root system over time. So this plant will likely have a very small or no root system when you receive it. That is normal, doesn't hurt the plant, and it will form a full root system in time.
You will receive the plant shown in the images. Plant shown in a 6" (aka 1 gallon) pot. Plant is approximately 11" tall by 4.5" diameter caudex.
Important Shipping Information
- PLANTS ARE SHIPPED BARE ROOT If you want me to send them in pots send me a message to discuss. Extra charges due to increased shipping costs will apply.
- Immediate Payment (eBay only) Sorry! I can no longer offer a delayed purchase option as the multichannel inventory management system I have started using requires this setting.
- No Delayed Shipping (eBay only) Once you pay I have to (and WILL) ship within 3 business days or eBay will lower my seller rating. I used to have a way to delay shipping but can no longer do this for the same reason as #2 above. Feel free to message me before buying to see if we can figure something out here, no promises though.
- Winter Shipping If you live in a cold climate consider including a 96 hour heat pack in your order during the cold months. I have them as a listing. Just add it to your order. If you don’t see them just message me.
