Fockea edulis Family: Apocynaceae. An attractive caudiciform vine with wavy leaves. The caudex is actually the taproot and it grows larger faster when below the soil. Many growers keep the root buried for several years then raise it once the plant starts to mature. But it will form a caudex if the root is raised early, just slower. Vines can be trimmed to shape or allowed to scramble around. Likes lots of light and regular watering during the growing season. Protect from frost.
