Firmiana colorata Family: Sterculiaceae. Also known as Sterculia colorata. A native of India and SE Asia. In the wild in most forests this can grow into a tree, but in dry regions it grows as a fat base caudiciform. This wonderful woody caudciform is related to Euphorbia. The caudex is woody and irregularly shaped. It produces relatively large maple like leaves with long pointed lobes. The new growth is a beautiful bronze color when young but matures to green when fully expanded. The caudex will continue to enlarge and will likely produce additional branches over time. The flowers are bright orange. When it goes dormant keep dry over the winter then water again when it warms up in the spring. Should be able to take full sun, but watch for sunburn until it is acclimated to your situation. During the growing season water regularly. Protect plant from temperatures below 50F.
You will receive the plant shown in the images. Plant is approximately 8" x 4" diameter. It is shown in a 6.5" diameter pot.
Important Shipping Information
- PLANTS ARE SHIPPED BARE ROOT If you want me to send them in pots send me a message to discuss. Extra charges due to increased shipping costs will apply.
- Immediate Payment (eBay only) Sorry! I can no longer offer a delayed purchase option as the multichannel inventory management system I have started using requires this setting.
- No Delayed Shipping (eBay only) Once you pay I have to (and WILL) ship within 3 business days or eBay will lower my seller rating. I used to have a way to delay shipping but can no longer do this for the same reason as #2 above. Feel free to message me before buying to see if we can figure something out here, no promises though.
- Winter Shipping If you live in a cold climate consider including a 96 hour heat pack in your order during the cold months. I have them as a listing. Just add it to your order. If you don’t see them just message me.
Thank you!
