Edithcolea grandis Family: Apocynaceae (Asclepidaceae) One of the nicest Stapeliads. The plant forms brown to green branched stems with prickles. But the real reason this plant is so popular is the amazing flower! It has the common name "Persian Carpet" thanks to the multicolor mosaic pattern it makes. They can take some direct sun, but aren't full sun plants. These flowers have a modest level of foetid scent. It won't gas you out of the house but you'll notice it if you are close to the flower. Takes normal succulent care. Likes bright light but not full sun. The more light the more brown the stems will become. Keep drier in winter and protect from frost.
Attention collectors: These plants were grown from seed originally collected at "Wamba Road". I assume this means a locality near Wamba, Kenya. I have not seen the flower yet so am using a generic E. grandis flower photo in the listing. I will update the listing once I have a picture of these flowers. Unless you are a collector interested in collection data don't worry about this as the flower pictured will be very similar to the one you get.
You will receive a plant shown in the last image or one similar. Plants shown in a 4" pot.
Important Shipping Information
- PLANTS ARE SHIPPED BARE ROOT If you want me to send them in pots send me a message to discuss. Extra charges due to increased shipping costs will apply.
- Immediate Payment (eBay only) Sorry! I can no longer offer a delayed purchase option as the multichannel inventory management system I have started using requires this setting.
- No Delayed Shipping (eBay only) Once you pay I have to (and WILL) ship within 3 business days or eBay will lower my seller rating. I used to have a way to delay shipping but can no longer do this for the same reason as #2 above. Feel free to message me before buying to see if we can figure something out here, no promises though.
- Winter Shipping If you live in a cold climate consider including a 96 hour heat pack in your order during the cold months. I have them as a listing. Just add it to your order. If you don’t see them just message me.
